Intent and Project Description
Born and raised in Mainland China, I moved to the US at age of 16. Most recent years I considered my home between NYC (have been here for 6 years), Las Vegas, and ZhongShan China. In celebration of Lunar New Year 2021, which is year of Ox. I created print that is cowhide inspired but put on a twist with Chinese writing of Ox. The color represents good luck and prosperity. From the print created using Adobe Fresco, I then produced post cards, menu for the tour to Chinatown, shirts using the same print and "train tickets".
I used this opportunity to create a community driven program to showcase Chinese traditions celebrating Lunar New Year, specific food items in Chinatown that reminded me home and a curated experience to share with my non-Asian friends.
