Intent and Description
In September 2020, during my first trip to Maine I visited a vintage market looking for a cake stand. It was one of the most loved item I purchased and I adored it's history and ceramic structure. In February 2021 the cake stand was broken into pieces suddenly. Usually the reaction would be upset, angry and trying to toss them. But instead, I would like to "fix my mistakes". I consulted local hardware store owner Chris in my neighborhood and he suggested it would be challenge but can be "fixed". After 3 hours to puzzling and strategize on which pieces to use epoxy to glue first I was able to reconstruct the cake stand. It is not only a reconstruction process, but an art creation process mentally which enforces me to:
1. accept that I made mistakes
2. Mistakes can be fixed
3. Even mistakes are fixed, there are permanent impact/scars
4. Embrace the imperfection
