Designed for International Women's Day 2021.
Intent
March 8th is International Women's Day. Growing up in urban China we embraced the appreciation of female and being a woman. In elementary school our teachers will encourage boys in my class to bring us girls gifts which can range from hand written notes, candy to flowers. This year I came across a pice of fabric in Moods Fabric store which includes print of women in various color, shapes and fashion style. I decided to create an asymmetrical dress with long sleeve on left side and sleeveless on the right with a flexible tie backdrop on the back. This dress signifies women's values being flexible and playing multiple roles in the society. This piece is created and wore on 3/8/2021.
