Proposal for Gallatin Fashion Show 2023.
This collection is based on three references: Poet Ocean Vuong, who was born and raised on a rice farm in Vietnam and then migrated to Connecticut as a refugee, Inuit Mythology which embraces nature, everything has spirit and simplicity, and futuristic artificial intelligence. I am drawn to the visualization illustrated in the poems, the spirits and playfulness represented in Inuit art, and the non-human construction and representation of intelligence. The collection takes inspiration from Inuit and Cherokee fashion for both functions (hunter-gathering) and beauty. The collection will feature sculptural pieces that can be assembled on the model.
